200,000 Bangladeshi garment workers rally for decent wages

This week, 200,000 Bangladeshi garment workers protested for three days straight outside factories in the country’s capital, Dhaka, demanding decent wages and rejecting the appalling low offer made to them by garment industry bosses. As previously reported wages and conditions in Bangladesh’s garment industry are abysmal and resulted in the recent Rana Plaza collapse which killed over a thousand workers. The global union federation, IndustriALL, is calling for an urgent increase to the minimum wage in Bangladesh.  Inspiring demonstration such as these must be joined by international solidarity in order for workers to win our demands.
