Locked out ground staff at Philippine Airlines are now in their sixth month on the picket line. They are resisting Philippine Airlines’ attempts to outsource their jobs, which would result in pay cuts of around 50% along with a loss of seniority and union protection.

Members of Philippine Airlines Employees Association (PALEA) participated in International Women's Day activities in Manila this week, part of an ongoing series of public rallies, motorcades and other activities to highlight their struggle.

Meanwhile unions have condemned a dramatic round of job cuts at Qantas. Many of these workers face having their jobs outsourced to lower cost service providers.
