Fiji union leaders released

The government of Fiji is continuing in its attack on workers’ rights to organise. The recent international day of action in solidarity with Fijian workers has not led to a decrease in the harassment of workers. Recently Daniel Urai and Felix Anthony, respectively President and General Secretary of the Fiji Trades Union Congress were arrested. Following significant international protests they have now been released on bail. The Australian Confederation of Trade Unions is organising a delegation of unionists to travel to Fiji in December to investigate the situation further.
