Garment workers uniting for global actions

In late July, in a landmark meeting, garment unions from seven countries met in Phnom Penh to discuss how to collaborate better to achieve living wages and safe workplaces for all garment workers. The garment industry around the world is characterised by a brutal Race to the Bottom where workers lives and safety are just costs to be minimised. While in all countries, there are different social and political conditions, only a unified approach by all workers in co-ordinated industrial actions can defeat the power of the global companies that control the garment sector in the world.
