Indonesian workers employed by the national airline, Garuda Airways, are the latest group of workers in the aviation sector in the Asia Pacific region to take action against their employer.
The Garuda Pilots Association (APG) undertook a 24 hour strike to back their claims for wage parity among pilots. The Garuda Indonesia Flight Attendant Association has also accused Garuda management of intimidating union members, imposing new regulations and not wanting to implement a collective bargaining agreement.
Other airline workers in current disputes have included those at Philippine Airlines, Japan Airlines, Qantas and Jetstar.
