On 30 April 2011, Somyot Prueksakasemsuk, a labor activist, leader of the 24 June for Democracy Group, and the managing director of 'Voice of Thaksin' was arrested under the Thai lese majeste law by the Department of Special Investigation.
According to a complaint filed with the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) by the Center for the Resolution of the Emergency Situation (CRES) Mr Somyot violated Section 112 of the Criminal Code by publishing statements in his magazine that could be deemed an insult to the monarchy and a threat to national security.
This is not the first time Somyot Prueksakasemsuk has been detained and it is not the first time that AAWL has had to participate in a campaign for his freedom. See the Free Our Comrades page here.
