While Samsung represses organising efforts, workers die

On 24 July, police detained a number of SHARPS’s activists. They were trying to pressure Samsung to admit that hazardous working conditions at its electronic plants have caused a cluster of fatal occupational diseases. Just two days later, in another one of Samsung’s divisions, 3 workers were killed and 12 others were injured when a huge water tank burst during a stress test sparking a major collapse. All of the workers were contract workers in their twenties. Global giant Samsung is a notorious anti union company that uses all kinds of tactics to prevent workers from organising.
