Reza Shahabi is a founding member and treasurer of the Syndicate of Workers of Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company, an independent trade union that has been targeted repeatedly by the Iranian government.
He was arrested in 2010 and sentenced to six years in prison on charges of “collusion against national security,” and “propaganda against the state.”
Amnesty International has caelled for Reza's release.
His detention is part of the Iranian government's attempt to destroy independent workers' organisations, and in particular stopping the organisation of transport workers in Iran. Support the international campaign for Reza's immediate release.
