As capitalists try to make workers pay for the economic crisis, workers in the car industry keep fighting back. Following major struggles in Toyota, Ssangyong, General Motors, Honda, Daewoo, Yoosung and Hyundai, 2000 workers at Maruti Suzuki in India occupied their factory on 4 June to advance their demand for union recognition. The company had refused to recognised the union, sacked leading union members and with the support of the Haryana state government it has used repression against the workers. The Suzuki workers are asking for solidarity, particularly from other workers in Suzuki factories and other car workers involved in struggle.
