Earlier this week, up to 2,000 workers went on strike at the Phatthana Seafood Co in Thailand’s Songkhla province over the scrapping of a $US 1.30 daily allowance. The workers daily wage is around $US 6.50. The workforce comprises workers from Burma, Myanmar and Thailand. The police fired shots at the workers to disperse them.
