Early this month, Ponciano Infante, the president of an independent union of Jeepney drivers was killed in Angeles City. Ponciano was shot dead by two unidentified killers. The Jeepney union had been very active this year organising protests against petrol price rises. Ponciano is only the latest in a long list of trade union activist that have been murdered over the years in the Philippines.
