Continent wide rallies and events against continued austerity in Europe

1 June saw mobilisation of workers, students and the unemployed against the ongoing capitalist crisis that has created social havoc in Europe. Unemployment in Europe has now climbed to a record high of over 12%. Organisations in ten countries participated with events being held in over 70 cities.  One of Europe’s financial capitals, Frankfurt in Germany, was a main target for protests and mobilisations.  This is not the first European-wide mobilisation and it is an attempt by activists to overcome national divisions and come up with a collective co-ordinated response to what is a global crisis.
