The situation for union activists and workers remains grim in Bahrain as the government consolidates its grip after suppressing the protest movement in mid March of this year.
To protest the dismissal, arrests and detentions of thousands of opposition activists, Jaleela Al Salman, Vice President of the Bahrain Society for teachers, and Rula AlSafar, President of Bahrain Nursing Society, began a hunger strike in prison on the 2nd of August.
Both have been released in the last couple of days, but both Jaleela and Rula still face charges for participating in anti government protests. The international solidarity movement continues to call for an end to the repression.
