Since early June, over 900 workers employed by the Artigas garment factory in Guanlan Township, Shenzhen, have been on strike against the company’s attempts to shut the factory and not pay their entitlements. This is not the first time the workers have been on strike. The workers have been occupying the factory around the clock to prevent the company from removing equipment and machinery. One of the leaders of the strike Wu Weifa has been in detention since early June. The workers are now facing the threat of violent removal by the police. There is an international campaign by Chinese labour groups that seek to support these workers in their quest for justice.
