Jalila Al-Salman, the acting President of the Bahraini Teachers’ Association (BTA), was released from jail in late November. Jalila was arrested at the same time as the then President of the BTA, Mahdi Abu Dheeb, during the Bahrain’s government ongoing crackdown on dissent. Unfortunately, Mahdi is still in jail, and violations of trade union rights are still very common.
