Last week workers from the PALEA union were forcibly evicted from their workplaces where they were staging a sit down protest. They have been locked out since then and were all terminated from their jobs on 1 October.
Despite this repression, Philippines airlines has been unable to resume normal operations due to the failure of the outsourcing plan and the militancy of PALEA’s workers. Picket lines outside the international airports of Manila and Cebu Pickets at Manila and Cebu airports involve more than a thousand workers on a daily basis. PALEA calls for messages of support, for delegations to and pickets at embassies or consulates of the Philippines, and financial support for the striking workers and their families.
