In 1969, the Indonesian government headed by General Suharto, fresh from murdering hundreds of thousands of communists, trade unionists and other activists, conducted the sham 'Act of choice' referendum in West Papua. A thousand hand picked representatives were told to vote for integration with Indonesia.
The majority of West Papuans have been fighting this decision ever since. Demonstrations all around the world will be held in December to mark this event and to call for independence.
