SPCI-KASBI and workers in the French-owned supermarket chain Carrefour Indonesia are set to have a national strike from the 26th of August till the 28th of August.
The strike is over the inability of management to agree to a new collective agreement and management’s intimidation of workers. Over the last few months, Carrefour management has sent more than 300 warning-letters, issued 26 suspensions and dismissal against workers.
Carrefour began the campaign of intimidation after workers won the right to be hired as permanent workers instead of being placed on ongoing short term contracts.
SPCI-KASBI say "We believe that the support from international solidarity will play an important role in the fight of workers in PT. Carrefour Indonesia and workers movement in all countries" and they would like workers and unions to write protest letters to these addresses.
