As reported last month, truck drivers employed by the large food company Pulmuone have undertaken strike actions against low pay rates, long hours and unsafe working conditions. The company has not only refused to negotiate, but have kept up unrelenting pressure on workers aided by the actions of police and thugs. Late last month, two of these workers started a high altitude sit in to highlight and further publicise their plight. In the last few years, high altitude protests have become a common tactic by Korean workers. In the last couple of days, the police increased the pressure by raiding the offices of the truckers union (see video here).
