Report from the Federation of Workers’ Councils and Unions in Iraq (FWCUI)
All the 223 oil workers at the Shiwashok oil company in Kurdistan, Iraq have began an open-ended strike on August 1, 2011, which has stopped the work of the entire field.
The workers who are resident of the area are suffering the lack of basic services like electricity and suitable paved roads to the workplace. They demand provision of electricity, building roads, equal working conditions with colleagues from other nationalities. The workers also demand some money from the profit of oil production, which is a portion of the oil income to be distributed to the population in the areas which have oil, this includes workers themselves. Shiwashok is located in the city of Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan and is under the authority of the Kurdish regional government.
FWCUI support the strike of workers and we ask the management of the company to respond to their legitimate demands. We call upon all organizations, labor unions, and left-wing parties to support Shiwashok workers and their demands.

عمال حقل نفط (شیواشوك) في كردستان العراق بدأوا اضرابا مفتوحا حول الأجور، ظروف العمل والخدمات الاجتماعية الأساسية
بدأ عمال النفط البالغ عددهم 223 في حقل نفط (شیواشوك) اضرابا مفتوحا عن العمل منذ 05:00صباح اليوم الاول من أغسطس 2011 و الذي أد إلى توقف الشركة عن العمل. العمال الذین يعيشون في المناطق القريبة منالشركة وليس لديهم الخدمات الأساسية مثل الكهرباء والطرقالمناسبة لمكان عملهم، طالبوا ادارة الشرکة عدة مطالب، منها توفيرالكهرباء لمنازلهم، بناء الطرق بين موقع العمل ومنازلهم، تساوي ظروف عملهم اسوة برفاقهم الاجانب والحصول على دخل بترودولار، الذي يعني تخصیص قدر من المال الناتج من دخل النفط للتوزیع علی سکان المناطق النفطیة، حیث العمال هم اهل المنطقة النفطیة ذاتها.
جدیر بالذکر ان (شیواشوك) تقع في مدينةاربيل، كردستان العراق و هي تحت سلطةالحكومة الاقليمية الكردية.
نحن في الحزب الشیوعي العمالي الکردستاني/ منظمة الخارج، نساند اضراب عمال حقل نفط شیواشوك و نطالب ادارة الشرکة الاجابة لمطالب العمال المشروعة کما نطالب المنظمات و الاتحادات العمالیة و المنظمات و الاحزاب الیساریة اعلان دعمهم لعمال حقل نفط (شیواشوك) و مطالبهم.
