Greetings from the National Garment Workers Federation (NGWF) Bangladesh.
Earlier we had sent news that there are disputes running in total 5 factories as a result of two factory closures and three illegal mass sackings. Locally for these NGWF organized several demonstration and internationally some friends organizations tried and are trying to put pressure on the sourcing companies.
You will be happy to know that because of these two types of activities, local and international, as well as initiatives by the BGMEA, two of the disputes have been resolved.
Workers of Alana Garment earlier received their back wages with a little compensation. Workers of Onyx Knitex also received their money on 29th July. In Onyx, there were 115 workers and in Alana there were more than 200 workers.
