This week, a court in the Indian state of Haryana, acquitted over a hundred workers of any involvement in the death of a factory manager. Many of these workers had spent over 3 years in jail. The court found 13 workers guilty of murder. The conduct of this trail and the fact that all of the 13 convicted are leaders of the Maruti Suzuki struggle points to the fact that this is a direct political attack on these workers. The Maruti Suzuki factory is one of the biggest in the Gurgaon-Manesar industrial belt around New Delhi. The workers have fought since 2011 to organise so as to win better wages and conditions. They have repeatedly faced state repression, but have never given up the fight.
