It was not the only factory to burn, with another 25 workers killed on the same day at a shoe factory in Lahore. In the race to be globally competitive and make profits, health and safety are seen as costs to be avoided by the bosses. Only by developing strong trade unions can we prevent tragedies like these from happening again and again.
