In February of this year, a number of members of the Confederation of Public Workers’ Unions (KESK) were arrested for unspecified charges. This year has seen an increase in the repression against workers in Turkey with many arrests across many different cities. Next week, 15 of the arrested KESK members will face an initial trial hearing. There is an international campaign calling for their release co-ordinated by the international public services union federation PSI.
