While attending a health skills training seminar on 6th February 2010, 43 health workers in the Philippines were abducted by 300 fully armed members of the Philippine army and police department. Nine months later, and with no formal charges against them, they are still imprisoned. The health workers are now known as the Morong 43. They began a hunger strike against their continued detention on 3 December.
