The government of Cambodia is preparing to amend its labour law and indications are that the government plans to use it to restrict the ability of workers to unionise. The last couple of years we have witnessed great struggles by Cambodian workers (see here, here and here), and increasing unionisation rates. Labour organisations are worried that the new law will restrict the ability for unions to get registered, the freedom to organise and will give the government wide powers to suspend unions. Labour organisations in Cambodian are mounting a campaign to stop these changes.
