After years of fighting, and more workers getting sick and dying, labour activists have finally managed to get Samsung to accept some responsibility. This week, the Vice Chair and CEO of Samsung Electronics Mr. Kwon Oh-hyun, apologised to the families of the dead workers and promised some compensation. Nevertheless, Mr Kwon made sure that Samsung did not accept that the workers died from exposure to chemicals during their working life at Samsung. Activists have pledged to keep fighting for justice and better OHS, especially given South Korea’s worsening workplace record of the last few years.
