With the uprising against the Syrian government now well into its second year, the situation is becoming ever more critical for workers and their families. With various imperialist powers using the UN mission to further their own interests, there are increasing signs of fracturing of the anti government opposition. In addition, new reactionary forces are becoming involved, threatening an Iraq type situation.
The deepening economic crisis is further worsening the situation for workers and their organisations. Worker organisations in the region, especially in Turkey and Egypt, need to link with progressive forces within Syria to support of their Syrian brothers and sisters.
